Is Granite State HPS an insurance company or a health plan?
No to both, and we want to be direct about it because our name contains the words "Health Plan." Granite State Health Plan Solutions is an educational healthcare navigation and employer resource platform. We do not issue policies, underwrite risk, sponsor a plan, or pay claims. "Solutions" is the operative word — we help employers find and understand health plans, we are not one.
What we actually do: explain how healthcare works in this region, compare the realistic options available to an employer, and advocate for our clients and their employees with the carriers and providers who do issue the coverage.
Is this an Association Health Plan?
No. This is not an Association Health Plan, not a pooled-risk arrangement, and not a single program that every employer is funneled into. Different employers here end up with different carriers and different structures, which is the point.
Can you help compare carriers?
Yes. That is a core part of what we do — comparing fully insured carriers, level-funded programs, ICHRA, and alternative structures on the criteria that matter in this market, including how each one handles care across the Massachusetts and Maine borders. Final rates and availability are always determined by the carrier at quote time.
Can you explain healthcare systems?
Yes, and we think it is one of the most useful things we do. Our Who's Who In Healthcare page covers the major New Hampshire systems, the Northern Massachusetts and Boston systems your employees use, and Southern Maine access — including the ownership changes that have reshaped this market since 2025.
Can employees use the site?
Yes. Several pages are written specifically to be forwarded to employees — Healthcare Basics, Where To Go For Care, Behavioral Health, and the Imaging & Diagnostics guide. No login, no gate.
Is this only for New Hampshire employers?
Primarily Southern New Hampshire, but the content is useful for any employer whose employees receive care across New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and Maine. Cross-border care navigation is the whole reason this site exists.
What is Triad?
Triad is a small-group health plan program built on the Cigna national PPO network, with a claims navigation and steerage program included. It is the program we most often lead with, for two reasons: it has repeatedly priced materially below incumbent renewals, and it produces claims data that fully insured small groups almost never receive.
Our Triad page shows three real, de-identified examples — a 28.3% medical premium reduction at a like-for-like plan design, a 25.56% incumbent renewal absorbed at flat premium with a better plan, and a full mid-year claims review with the cost drivers, pharmacy detail, HRA utilization, and stop-loss position laid out. It also covers who the program does not fit.
Do you have Triad results you can actually show me?
Yes. Three of them are on the Triad page, with the source document and date cited under each figure and the arithmetic reconciled before publication. Clients are not named, no diagnosis or drug brand is disclosed, and only plan-level aggregates appear.
Two important caveats we state on the page itself: one of the three is a proposal-stage rate comparison rather than a realized result, and every result is specific to that employer's census, plan design, claims experience, and underwriting. None of it is a projection of what your group will achieve. If you want to know what Triad does for you, the honest answer is that we have to price it on your census.
What is ICHRA?
An Individual Coverage Health Reimbursement Arrangement lets an employer reimburse employees tax-free for individual health insurance they buy themselves, instead of sponsoring a group plan. The employer sets the contribution, which makes the budget predictable. It carries real compliance requirements and changes the employee experience. See Understanding ICHRA.
Can you help employees understand healthcare?
Yes. We run plain-language education for employees — onsite, virtual, or as materials your managers can hand out. In our experience it reduces both claims and HR interruptions, which is a rare combination.
What does this cost an employer?
Nothing to use the site, and nothing to have a review conversation. If an employer chooses to place coverage through us, we are compensated as their broker of record in the normal way, and we will tell you plainly how we are paid on any arrangement we recommend.
How current is the information on this site?
Every statistic on this site is dated and sourced, and provider and market information is reviewed as conditions change. This market has moved a lot since 2025 — hospital ownership, system structure, and imaging availability have all changed — so we date our claims rather than presenting them as permanent. If you find something out of date, tell us.
Question not answered here?
Ask it directly. If it is a good question we will probably add it to this page.
